Studio One: Home to Movement of All Forms

By Elisha Neubauer

Studio One isn't just a yoga studio. It is an all-inclusive movement. Offering a wide variety of classes in yoga and dance, the facility caters to every skill level of movement, from beginners to advanced classes.

When it comes to dance styles, Studio One has just about everything you'll need to get your body moving and grooving. Breakdance classes run throughout the week and are drop-in, so there is no need to preregister. The classes are open for anyone aged five or older and combine skill sets from gymnastics and toprock. Salsa is offered every other Friday night.

Yoga classes are directed in a manner that will allow for any ability to take part. These classes are also drop-in, giving anyone and everyone the ability to try it out or come back for more on their own schedule.

"Our goal is to help each and every student gain a deeper relationship between their body, mind and nature, to overcome physical and mental limitations, and most importantly for every student to leave class feeling better than when they first arrived," Jessica Gennaccaro, owner of Studio One, said. "We also offer yin yoga which is a really restorative class."

Gennaccaro definitely knows a thing or two about living life through movement. Starting out in the breakdancing world in 1999, Gennaccaro began dancing professionally in 2003. Within two years, Gennaccaro decided she wanted to begin sharing her love of dance with others and started teaching.

Her list of dance credits includes MTV's Meet the Barkers, Dance for DJ am and Travis Barker, and the Cadillac Detroit Auto Show. She received her Yoga Alliance certification in 2014. One thing that Gennaccaro wants everyone to feel upon entering her studio is welcomed. The studio is not only open to movers, but is available?upon request?for events, parties, and other happenings.

"We have a warm, home-like studio," she said. "And I hope my services enhance your quality of life by movement."
