What benefits come from aerating a lawn?

Lawn aeration is the secret weapon in making your lawn healthy. Aeration involves making holes in the lawn either by pushing a rod into it or by "coring", extracting a plug of soil. By aerating your lawn you provide the following benefits to your lawn and its root system: Oxygen gets to the roots and the soil allowing it to "breathe." Organic fertilizers and nutrients get access to the root system. Water is able to better soak the soil and reach the root system and it helps to break up thatch. Tight, compacted soil is loosened up allowing the root system to grow.

How often should people weed/fertilize their lawn or garden bed?

Twice a year is usually what I recommend.

For someone who wants to make their lawn brilliantly green, what do you suggest they do?

I suggest that they have it professionally sprayed by a company like True Green. Professionals can make sure it is taken care of the right way.

What's a simple and quick fix to up the aesthetic appeal of a garden bed?

I would probably say to trim & mulch. Keep it simple!

Do you have any tips for preventing weeds and other invasive plants from growing on a lawn?

Weed & fertilize!

How often do you recommend mowing your lawn for maximum beauty and fullness?

Every 5 days seasonally.

What are some benefits of raking regularly?

You'll need a good quality lawn rake to remove dead grass blades and improve air circulation around those turf crowns. Removing matted grass allows for better air movement which reduces the risk of disease and lets the crowns warm up a bit faster. As the soil and grass warm up, plant growth begins and before you know it, you've got a nice green lawn again. What is a simple DIY project that you feel really increases the aesthetics of a yard?

Edge, prune existing & hearty, colorful annuals. Curb appeal adds value to your home.
