Ron Warren Photography Captures Life's Milestones and More

By Pamela Sosnowski

Ron Warren may be a St. Clair Shores-based wedding and events photographer, but he discovered his profession accidentally. While trying to launch an advertising copywriting career, he decided to snap his own images to mock up ads for his portfolio after being disappointed with the available selection of stock photography.

"When I couldn't find the stock imagery to suit the ads, I started shooting my own and then the photography bug bit me," he said. "That was something like 17 years ago. I started my business in 2006. I've shot about 150 weddings since then."

He also shoots portraits of businesspeople and models, interior and exterior still photography for the real estate industry, corporate events, and more. His work usually takes him all over the tri-county area and his client list includes Scotts Miracle-Gro, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, George Washington University, and several other local businesses. He's photographed honored military veterans and birthday parties for 96 year-olds as well as families celebrating the birth of their first child.

Weddings in particular remain a favorite subject. Warren has captured ceremonies of all cultural and spiritual traditions and couples of all ages, backgrounds, and sexual orientations.

"We love the solemnly spiritual to the loving but lighthearted and everything in between," he said. "The pageantry, the loving commitment, the tears and the kisses. Weddings are a tilt-a-whirl of emotions and we catch them all, because if your wedding is anything like ours was, it will go by in a heartbeat and you'll be glad of every photograph and every story."

Wedding packages start at just under $2,000. Warren and his staff love meeting clients ahead of time to hear about a couple's wedding plans and customizing services so that they meet everyone's needs and personal style for their special day.

On WeddingWire.com, Warren's photography business has received an average rating of five stars. Clients have cited his engaging personality and sense of humor as instrumental in bringing out the best in his subjects, allowing them to relax and have fun during a shoot, particularly long ones. At weddings and other events, Warren and his crew know how to remain unnoticeable while capturing the intimate and candid moments during ceremonies and receptions.

According to Warren, there are many reasons why it's imperative to choose a quality photographer for any event.

"A good professional photographer brings experience, knowledge of light and lighting, insurance, the right tools and backup equipment," he said. "[They] can offer images in multiple ways for different purposes (digital files, albums, framed art, canvas, transparent backgrounds for composites, etc.), reliability and a 'can do' attitude."

All of which sum up Ron Warren, and why the photographer will probably never pursue a career in copywriting anytime soon.
