Neighborhood Favorite Carlyle Grill Serves Classic American Comfort Food Made From Scratch

With fresh, local ingredients and made-from-scratch recipes, the Carlyle Grill is Ann Arbor, MI's neighborhood restaurant. Owner John Roumanis opened his restaurant in an area with little development to give a true neighborhood feel to the Carlyle Grill. General Manager Andrew Connell says that almost every guest finds something they love, with an all American menu that features both comfort foods and higher-end weekly specials.

"Building on the welcoming appeal of a neighborhood restaurant, our menu has something to offer to 95% of the population, celebrating the diversity of classic American cuisine," Connell says.

The Carlyle Grill's menu is detailed, featuring weekly specials from the chef alongside regular items including appetizers, pizza, soup, salad, steak, seafood, specialties, burgers, sandwiches, an assortment of sides and desserts.

Chef specials have included a fresh watermelon salad for summer, featuring spinach and romaine mixed with red onion, pecans, feta cheese, watermelon, grapes, blackened shrimp and a poppy seed vinaigrette. Prime Rib has also been featured, slow roasted and cut to order, served with mashed potatoes and a house-made horseradish sauce. What gives the chef's dishes that extra punch of flavor is that every dish is made from scratch with as many local ingredients as possible.

"Not only do we source our ingredients from local purveyors, but we also prepare nearly all of our menu items from scratch daily, ensuring the highest quality freshness possible," Connell says. "A first-time customer will enjoy almost anything they try, but pay particular attention to the baby-back ribs (Midwestern sourced) that are smoked in-house with our dry rub and finished with our house made BBQ sauce."

The Carlyle Grill also features brunch, a relatively new addition to the menu. Brunch is more limited than the rest of the menu, only being offered on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Every season, the rest of the menu is updated to feature new small plates and cocktails.

"At Carlyle Grill, we are proud of our commitment to quality," Connell says. "We [also] constantly look for new ways to better serve our community and we also are looking to new communities that would benefit from their own Carlyle Grill."
